Peanut Paste that’s smoother than silk: Mei Heong Yuen Dessert

No meal is complete without something sweet to end it with! After a whole day of exploring, i decided to take the easy way out by asking for directions for good dessert shops in Chinatown. I was directed to Mei Heong Yuen Dessert shop and was pleased to find out that they sell peanut paste!! I think peanut paste is not easy to make and you can’t really find it in regular dessert stalls in hawker centres.

They sell other pastes too ranging from almond to black sesame to walnut. I decided to go for a combo of black sesame and peanut. And if you havent tried peanut paste before, the paste isn’t  a sticky-gooey-paste, but rather like a thick soup consistency.

The peanut and black sesame past was delicious! I think they poured in the black sesame first, followed by the peanut on top. For some reason, i was expecting the two pastes to be served in a ying- yang symbol pattern haha!

After mixing the two pastes together, the swirls of black sesame in the peanut paste made it look like marble cake in a cup!

Next time i’m here, i’ll request for almond and black sesame paste, oh, and if you don’t mind, served in a ying yang pattern! HAHA!
