At Ah Balling Peanut Soup, everyday is Yuan Xiao Jie. Tang yuan symbolizes wholeness and togetherness. If you’re someone who loves eating tang yuan, or glutinous rice balls, then don’t wait for that special day to eat those white pearls of goodiness.
I always save some space for tang yuan after my main course at Golden Mile Food Centre. It’s a must have to complete my meal! I usually go for the traditional hand-made tang yuan with peanut filling, which is rich and sweet. There are other flavours too, such as green tea, black sesame and yam. They’re all nice too, but in my opinion, peanut filling is the best, especially if you choose to have it with their famous peanut soup. You can still see the peanuts in their original form, and they have been boiled to the point of softness. If you’re not into the peanut soup, you can always try the ginger soup.
If you’re lucky like me, and happen to eat at the stall on Yuan Xie Jie, don’t be surprised to find a pink tang yuan in your soup!
So if you do drop by Golden Mile Food Centre one day, be it to buy Army gadgets or to hiking gear, make sure to save some space in your tummy for some tang yuan! Each tang yuan is a pouch full of goodness ready to burst out!
